Convince Two-Three Peers to Signup With Green Groove
Seriously, the more the merrier. Education and awareness is what Green Groove is all about. We all know those people who think a hotter planet means tropical vacations in Alaska is a good thing. Well, bonus points for signing one of them up. If not, just convince somebody you know who is trying to make a difference, but doesn't know how and where to start. Go get 'em!
Wear Two-Three Articles of Clothing at Least Twice Before Washing
If you are one of those people who put on a shirt and pair of jeans late in the day, and then throw them in the dirty clothes pile a few hours later, ask yourself how dirty they really are. Does worn for a few hours really mean dirty, usually not unless you went swimming in a mud puddle. Just fold them back up, and put them on a couple days later, for a few hours. Add a couple extra swipes of deodorant though You'll be doing half as much laundry, and we know how much energy that takes (from you and the power grid).
Acquire Two-Three Houseplants
Borrow a start from a neighbor, plant a seed, or dig one up someplace (with permission). Put it inside your home to offset carbon, and make your house more enjoyable. Having just one will help, but you don't want that plant to be lonely do you?
Do Not Use Your Printer
Don't even be forced to recycle your printer paper, just don't print it to begin with. If you can get by without, just stop printing temporarily even. If at all possible, just read online.
Reuse a Bathing Towel At Least Two-Three Times
Do you really need to have a freshie every day? No, not really. Think about it, all you do is dry off your completely clean body, and it only makes the towel wet and not dirty. So, all you have to do is set it out to dry and use it again. If you have already re-used it once, then you know that it was dry and clean the second time, and will be for the next few. We won't tell anyone.
Hang Dry At Least Two-Three Loads of Laundry
That's right, it's not a squirrel cage turning that spin cycle. Dryers can take a good amount of electricity to run, and usually run more than a few times per week. Give your clothes some sun! Two to three times per week should be about as much laundry loads as you do, so that means if you do a load of laundry, hang em up.
Replace Two-Three Old Lightbulbs With a Compact Fluorescent
It might cost slightly more, but it will save you in the long run. Forget pennies, think about how much energy you will have saved. The bulbs burn brighter and last longer too. These normally come in three packs, so if that counts as econo-shopping, then you don't really have an excuse to buy just one. Well, unless you are slowly easing into this green stuff. However, you're not, so ratchet this thing up about now.
Take Bag Lunch to Work at Least Two-Three Days
Avoid the lunch rush by eating a cold sack lunch in the lunchroom. Saves gas, time, and energy. You also get to practically double the amount of time you spend eating, by avoiding cooking or commuting. Enjoy this luxury more than one time per week, you deserve it. Oh, and it will help save our planet. With all your extra time you can start thinking about other ways to help the environment. Your co-workers will be so jealous ![]()
