Refrain From Using Any Artificial Light During Two-Three Days This Week
Are you into solar energy, but can't afford to buy panels? No need, you can save a ton of energy simply by substituting your overhead lighting by using the Sun during the daytime. Open the curtains, pull the blinds, and bask in solar bliss.
Convince Five Peers to Signup With Green Groove
One per day, or all at once. Family, friends, and neighbors. Sign them up yourself, or walk them through the process. Just think of the awareness and education that will happen. Take your success and increase it 500%. Don't forget grandma and grandpa.
Recycle All Waste This Week
Plastics, metals, and paper. Sort it all out, and make sure it makes it to the recycle center. As for organic matter, throw it in a compost pile and use it in the garden later.
Run Dishwasher On Cold All Week
Hopefully this means only one or two loads per week. This will give your hot water heat little down time, and ultimately help reduce your carbon footprint, and energy bill. If you wash dishes by hand, then use cold water this week. Sounds rough, but somehow we humans have managed for thousands of years before the advent of the hot water heater ![]()
Cut Down All Showers By At Least Five Minutes
Technically speaking, you should be able to take care of all your business in the shower in under five minutes, but if you continually take long, wasteful, showers, then this goal is for you. Cut it down... all week.
Do Not Watch TV All Week
You'll be able to catch up on soaps, sitcoms, and reality television next week. However, this week give the boob tube some much needed rest, and pick up that book you've been meaning to read. If you can get by a whole week, surely you'll be able to make day-to-day changes to your television watching schedule starting the next week.
Refrain From Using Any Artificial Light During Daytime All This Week
This really shouldn't be difficult at all. If it is daytime, and you aren't in a cave, then use the daylight to your advantage. This might be as easy as just turning off a light when you see one on someplace. Sure you may not be able to turn out the lights at the local grocery store, but just be cognoscente of what is in your personal control.
Air Dry Your Hair All Week (if normally use hairdryer)
This can be a real challenge for those who normally use hairdryers. Chances are you use a hairdryer because you feel that you must. Talk to a hair stylist to find out what type of a look might work for you that requires or uses air drying. It'll be a fresh look, and a green look, if anything.
